More ‘mermaid fiction’ for interested parties

Thanks Sandy Fussell (author of ‘Samurai Kids’ series and ‘Jaguar Warrior’) for reminding me of a spectacular children’s book set in Venice called ‘The Undrowned Child’ by Michelle Lovric, which features some fantastically bawdy mermaids, who’ve learnt all their language from sailors and pirates!
And of course, there’s the ‘Ingo’ quartet by Helen Dunmore (also for children), featuring a mermaid cast of characters who live in the underwater world called ‘Ingo’. Sapphire and Connor, brother and sister, have always lived by the sea, and are suddenly drawn into its world and into the culture of Ingo by discovering their Mer inheritance!
(Read in this order:
3.The Deep
4.The Crossing of Ingo)
